The luxury and catered chalets in Val d’Isère are on par with the best ski resorts throughout the world. With its abundance of impressive ski chalets, Val d’Isère is one of the most popular European destinations for a luxury ski holiday. Ski chalet holidays are what Val d’Isère is all about!

Val d’Isère is considered by many to be the world’s premier ski resort. It is a combination of outstanding skiing and exciting après ski. The Espace Killy ski area has 97 ski-lifts that can bring you in all directions (up to heights of over 3500m) including the Le Fornet glacier guaranteeing snow.

The ski area of Val d’Isère is connected with the area of Tignes. Together they form the impressive and snow-sure Espace Killy ski area. Two things are important to know about this area. First, its altitude and climate guarantee there is enough snow from the beginning of December till the beginning of May. Second, the off-piste possibilities are endless and mostly easily accessed by lift! A real recommendation to all you free-riders!

The quality of the skiing in the area is so varied and demanding that a whole generation of skiers who where “raised” in this area have never been skiing anywhere else. This gondola and other modern lifts, including the Glacier Express, make it perfectly feasible to ski the entire length of the area. From Le Fornet to Tignes and back in a single morning. You don’t have to be an expert to ski here, but you do need to be prepared for a different standard of piste-marking. Green here is the same as blue elsewhere. A red slope here would be classified as a black throughout Italy or Austria. The resort also has a good nursery slopes right in the centre of the village.

Après Ski

From the famous ‘La Face’ black run to the fabulous après-ski scene, the ski resort of Val d’Isère is a pleasant mix of superb skiing and a exclusive lifestyle. Val d’Isère is a favourite amongst the wealthy, 30-somethings, and big ski enthusiasts. It has an exciting mixture of domestic and international guests. With so many après-ski options it’s easy to spend your money in the Moris Pub or one of the luxury champagne bars.

Worth checking out are Bananas, The Pacific, Boubou and Bar Jacques. The young crowd heads to Perdrix Blanche after skiing, while the Taverne d’Alsace offers rustic surroundings and quieter après ski for a slightly older crowd. This is the perfect place to end your amazing ski day with a delicious famous French wine.

Located in the center of Val d’Isère, Cafe Face is the ideal place to enjoy an après ski drink. With live music, singers, superb wines and a good collection of beers, this bar is the ideal place to sit back and relax. For those looking to continue the party atmosphere of the Folile Douce, La Petit Danois has some great table dancing and live music!
